3DTD324 Discourse in Practice 3cr This course is designed to support students in developing holistic studio practices by interweaving a range of research and critical inquiry modalities with a variety of materials and process based investigations. The course moves quickly from shared assignment structures to autonomous inquiry, ensuring that students are supported in devising their own assignments across a broad spectrum of materials, tools, and technologies. Cultivating formal and informal spaces of dialogue allows students to practice reading one another’s works and speaking to their own approaches. Each section of the course is organized around a particular subject, allowing students from across different areas of FA3D and the college to draw together around a subject of common interest.
Prerequisites: Take SFDN-183 and SFDN-191 For FA3D majors, this course is intended to be taken in Fall of the junior year. As an elective, this course is intended for students who have completed the sophomore year of their major. - Must be completed prior to taking this course.
