Standardized Test Policy
|
|
Massachusetts College of Art and Design will no longer require standardized test scores (SAT/ACT) as part of our admission requirements for the Spring and Fall 2017 admission cycles.
Eliminating standardized tests from our admission requirements allows MassArt to attract more art and design students who are both academically and artistically qualified based on a holistic review of their application. We will focus our admission decisions on a student’s academic work and grade point average, along with all other required materials (portfolio, essay, recommendations), which research has shown are better predictors of academic success.
This is a pilot program for Spring and Fall 2017.
GUIDELINES
- Applicants with a recalculated GPA below 3.0 - MassArt reserves the right to contact the student and/or guidance counselor during the admissions process to further determine a student’s college readiness
- If an applicant submits test scores, we will not factor these test scores into the admission decision, but will reserve the right to use these scores in institutional profile reports if the student is admitted and decides to enroll at MassArt
- Test scores will not be used for merit scholarship consideration
INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS
- International students whose native language is not English will be required to submit TOEFL/IELTS to demonstrate language proficiency
