3DTD210 Applied Techniques 3 cr

This course exposes students to a variety of specialized woodworking techniques applicable to furniture production. Through a series of modules devoted to select skills, sessions explore basics of techniques with the objective of giving students enough exposure to begin applying them independently to studio projects. Areas include steam bending, wood turning, bent lamination, and carving and shaping. Modules alternate between MassArt and the North Bennet Street School, and are taught by local working artists, master-craftspeople, designers and specialists. Students can sign up for individual modules or the full class as a three credit class. [Formerly titled: Advanced Techiques for Furniture Making]
