EDID203 Design for Fabrication 3cr Interested in Furniture and/or Functional Object making? Would you like to practice Architectural fabrication? This studio course explores the interdependence of design, materials, digital and manual fabrication, and technical planning in the execution of decorative and functional objects. Moving beyond the one-off to the blueprint for multiples, the designer will explore the necessary communication skills to translate concepts to objects with a focus on production methods, color material and finish, and a variety of fabrication techniques. Materials explored include wood, metal, plastics, ceramics and glass. Targeted to Sophomore students and above in all majors. First year students must receive permission from the instructor.
