MassArt Minors
Vision for Minor Programs of Study at MassArt:
MassArt minor programs of study offer students a broader scope of study to complement their chosen major. Through a set of courses that make up a minor, students expand their knowledge and perspective, enhance their creative skill sets, and contribute to their artistic growth.
Definition of Minor Programs of Study at MassArt:
At MassArt, a minor is a course of study representing an optional, additional field for degree-seeking students. A minor offers students a coherent program of study and depth in the subject, but not as extensive as the major. A minor can be developed within a department, across departments, or across institutions. A minor requires between 15 and 18 credits of designated coursework to complete. In most cases, these credits are intended to be completed within a student’s 120-credit major degree, requiring no additional courses beyond that amount. Ideally, pursuing a minor should not affect a student’s ability to graduate on time or the requirements for the major. Please note that there may be situations in which students need to complete courses in addition to their 120-credit degree requirements to fulfill the requirements of a minor.
