Immersive media and the Landscapes of Augmented &
Virtual Reality

In this course, students have the opportunity to
survey the current state of augmented and virtual
reality tools and applications. The ever-changing
landscape of augmented and virtual reality offers
artists uncharted territory in artistic expression
and the opportunity to create a new artistic
language. This course provides a review of the
theory, history, and development of both AR and VR
while exploring the artist’s potential within
these mediums. Students are expected to make work
using video mapping, smart phone AR, and to
participate in VR sessions. The course includes
several visiting artists and professionals in the
field.

Prerequisites: Basic knowledge in video production.
