CDAN309 Optical Printing 3cr

Students learn how to shape the space, time and
light of the motion picture image on one of the
most versatile of film devices, the optical
printer. The optical printer consists of a
camera, a projector head and a light source on
which you rephotograph already developed film to
extract and explore the hidden potentialities of
the image. Students quickly gain hands on
experience with the printer through numerous
demonstrations and exercises. Screenings of key
works will illustrate a myriad of techniques.
