LASS248 The Hood: Life and History 3cr

At the time of Black Lives Matter – a movement
that has been called our Third Reconstruction –
the course examines three sets of interrelated
themes: 1) The American inner city: its
multiple and entangled historical,
socio-political and economic origins. 2) The
role of segregation in housing, education,
employment, policing and criminal justice in the
life of the people in the inner city. 3) The
forces maintaining the inner-city status quo, and
the promise of Black Lives Matter.

Prerequisites: FRSM-100 and LALW-100
