LASS302 Gender, Class and Race in American Film 3 cr. This class looks at film as an important part of mass culture. The course is a social science course, not a “film viewing” one. Expect to analyze sociological themes having to do with gender, class, and race as such themes are reflected in the actions of the film’s characters; in their relations with other characters; in their expectations, hopes, and dreams; and, implicitly, in the film’s cinematic, visual aspects.
Prerequisites: LALW100; FRSM100
