HART341 Native American Art and Culture 3 cr. An examination of issues in the history of Native North America using architecture and art from the diverse societies of the region. Students confront questions of tradition, identity, authenticity, and display of sacred objects in the museum setting through understanding the social and religious use of art in a number of different Native American communities. Students also study the biographies of Native American artists, past and present.
Prerequisites: HART100
