FRSM100 First-Year Seminar 3 cr.

A rigorous and immersive intellectual experience designed to introduce the first-year student to college-level inquiry. This seminar-size course emphasizes close reading, critical analysis, information literacy, research skills, and oral communication. Course topics vary by section; the student is introduced to a discipline, field, or body of knowledge as a means of skills building and as a site for investigation and inquiry. Students participate in a range of scholarly activities, which may include but are not limited to analysis, critical writing, primary and secondary research, field experiences, and oral presentations.
